Hello there and happy Easter to all of you!
Reading your post and looking at those marvelous pictures, I see that Easter in Greece is pretty much the same thing as in Romania! We have here the same Easter meal, the eggs must be red, people go to church…

Yes Mihai , you are right. There are so many similarities between us. How many of you are Orthodox and how many Catholics or other religions?

  3. isabelle isabelle says:

Those photos are very inviting. Easter looks like a joyful time in Greece with those beautiful colours, flowers and dishes. What are kokoretsi, tsourekia and koulourakia?

  4. isabelle isabelle says:

I just watched the video on Easter in Greece and I am impressed at how grandiose the Easter celebrations are in Greece! Why do you break those huge pots?
I love watching fireworks. Where were they on the video? In France, there are fireworks in every town on the 14th of July but usually not for Easter.

  5. Mihai Mihai says:

Vicky, it is true indeed. In Romania, 87% of the entire population of the country are Orthodox, so it is a huge majority. Doing some research over the Internet, I found out that in Greece 95% of the population are Orthodox.

  6. Vicky Vicky says:

Mihai , kokoretsi is lamb’s liver and neumons rolled up with intestines of the same animal. You can see it on the skewer next to the lamb. Tsoyrekia is a kind od yeast bread and koulourakia are the greek word for cookies.
The video, Isabelle, shows the famous Easter celebrations in Corfu island. The ceramic pots are the victims of the day in the memory of Jesu;s victory on Death. You can see fireworks everywhere on the moment of Jesus’s rising, Saturday midnigh,t giving the atmosphere of the Gospel saying “and the sky was torn in two pieces while an earthquake trembled the Golgotha pick”
