10. 04. 2010. – Poland in tears/La Pologne en pleurs

 

 

 

The plane of President Lech Kaczyński, the President’s wife Maria Kaczyńska together with the members of the Polish delegation and the crew crashed, approaching for landing at the military airport in Smolensk. On  board there were 97 people, including many high-ranking representatives of the state. Nobody survived the crash. The catastrophe took place at 10.56 Moscow time (8.56 Polish time) near Siewiernyj.

L’avion du Président Lech Kaczynski, transportant le Président, son épouse , Maria Kaczynska ainsi que les membres de la délégation polonaise et l’équipage s’est écrasé non loin de l’aéroport militaire de Smolensk. A son bord il y avait 97 personnes dont de nombreux représentants de l’Etat de haut rang. Il n’y a aucun survivant. La catastrophe s’est produite à 10 h 56, heure de Moscou (8 h 56 à Varsovie) près de Siewiernyj.

    I have read the French press and apparently this catastrophe was caused by heavy fog over Smolensk airport.Poland is hit by a tragedy here. What else can be said? Please accept my deepest sympathy.

    I am with you and the Polish nation with all my heart, Agnieszka! This is terrible. 97 families are mourning today, 97 people were killed in that crash. They were Polish and they were Europeans too. We learnt about this awful event on the news. As you said earlier: May all rest in peace.

    It’s an enormous blow for Poland . The first reaction was disbelief , because I didn’t think that this was true . But with time it started to dawn on me that the Tupolew had crashed , and later that Lech Kaczyński was dead and more.
