On May 23, Romanian Christians celebrated-PENTECOST-, raising to the sky. On this day, tradition says that along the great rivers of the country- Danube, the Prut, Mureş, Olt Tisza, Siret etc.., there is an invasion of insects.
Folk tradition says that small creatures are the embodiment of young deaths before they have fulfilled their mission as husbands and wives.
They were given one day of the year, fulfilling the great Christian festivals, Descent of the Holy Spirit or Pentecost in which they can descend to Earth in the form of winged beings who experience the joy of love for a moment.
Once reaching this point those who enjoyed it would die to live again the same dance of pure beauty next year.

Dear romanian friends
What a nice story that of the insects lovers. In that story I can see how pure and romantic Romanian’s souls are! Thank you Marilena and guys
Magic life for one day! I am glad to have been granted a longer spell of time for happiness.
I can read that traditions are still going strong in Romania. Keep them as long as possible because rituals are essential for the younger generations.
How poetic! Romanians are quite lucky to have so many magic stories to remember and to tell! And this beautiful photo of an insect was well chosen. What are these men doing on their horses? What are they waiting for? Thank you again Marinela!
The first photo is young villagers who dress in traditional costumes, adorn their horses and go through villages inviting everyone to party.Tradition says that those who do not have fun in this day will have a difficult year. All villagers participate in parties, but you must get home before midnight. At midnight, in forests at a crossroads. . .appear the evil souls embodied in beautiful women.
How come evil creatures are always women, I just wonder
