Romanian village museum

About a Romanian village

The largest and most beautiful open air museum in Europe is found in Sibiu (Romania) and it takes about a week to visit the 100 hectares on foot. This is a faithful reconstruction of the Romanian village with all that it entails: houses, mills, churches, traditional vehicles or objects.

Great White Wolf- Legend(summary)

The Great White Wolf is not an animal, it is HUMAN…

In times long ago, almost forgotten, one of Zamolxis’ priests was walking without rest through  the Dacian lands in order to help those in need and to spread the belief in the Great God who was watching over his people. Unlike anyone else, without being old enough, his hair and beard was white, his courage and perseverance being known not only to people and to Zalmoxis but also to the beasts. One day, the God stops him by his side, in the heart of the mountains to serve him from close. Far away from people, the preast continued to serve his God with the same determination as before. It didn’t take long and the beasts started to listen to him and to consider him  their leader. Out of those, the wolves cared for him most, as they were the only ones without a leader, only hunger keeping them in packs.

After a while, Zalmoxis calls his preast and decides to make him an animal. It was not just an animal, but the most powerful and fearful  beast of all Dacia, a White Wolf, big and strong as a bear, giving him the task to gather all the wolves to protect this land. Thus, whenever the Dacians were at war, the wolves came to their aid. It took only the howl of the Great White Wolf and from everywhere the wolves came to protect those who became their brothers. Apart from this, the White Wolf was also a judge, punishing the  cowards and traitors.

One day, Zamolxis calls him by his side again, for the last time giving him the choice of either remaining a wolf or regaining his human form. With sorrow in his heart, knowing what times were going to come, he decides to stay by the God, believing that, thus, he  would  serve  the Dacians and the land better.

But despite all the awareness of the Getae-Dacians, of the wolves and of the Great White Wolf, the Romans managed to infiltrate their ranks and, in preparing the great invasion, they planted into the hearts of some cowards the seed of mistrust. Thus, some Dacians began to fear that the God would not stay by their side during the great battle to come. The traitors, with fear in their hearts, began to kill all the wolves they came across, secretly hoping that among them would  also be  the Great White Wolf whose head could be offered to the Romans in exchange for their life. The last remaining wolves escaped deep inside the mountains to never again return to the side of their brothers who had betrayed them. The White Wolf  and Zalmoxis went to the Sacred Mountain from where they would watch  the Getae-Dacians  being defeated by the Romans because of treachery.
